(More customer reviews)I was told by GE Security that the 250-CO is the replacement for the older 240-COe that I had at my home. The two devices couldn't be any more different. GE claims to provide the adaptor plate to make the transition easier, but it is not as seemless as they suggest. First, the 240-COe is a horizontal box mounted by 4 screws. It had a single entry for the wires and amble room to split them and hook up accordingly. The 250-CO has two entries for the wires and no room to split them for hook up. The plate, which is only useful to conceal the earlier holes in the wall, does not have room to split the wires. You either split the wires in the wall and drill a second hole or you live with the device not mounting flush. More over, the orientation of the entry way for the wires from the wall to the 250-CO is no were near the orientation for the 240-COe, not centered, not top nor bottom.
I tried getting answers from GE Security about the device and change in design. Did everything they asked, including writing a description and taking pictures. It's been a month and still no word from the company. If you have a tight space where you are replacing the 240-COe, I'd suggest you don't bother. There is much to much hassle. Simply disable the device so you don't have the constant chirpping.
