This chime extender works, but there are three big problems:
1) The microphone is very insensitive, so it had to be removed from the transmitter case and placed directly on the (wired) chime case to get it to pick up the chime sound and activate the wireless chime. Even then, it would only work with the transmitter sitting directly on top of the microphone. This was after turning the microphone sensitivity adjustment to the maximum setting.
2) With the mike sensitivity turned all the way up, there are occasional false signals -- the transmitter sends a signal when no one has pressed the chime button.
2) The volume adjustment on the wireless chime (plug-in unit) seemed to have little or no effect on the volume. It was loud at both the minimum and maximum settings.

Heath Zenith's chime extender allows you to add doorbell coverage to any room in your house, provided that you have an existing wireless doorbell. It works by "listening" for the chime of your original doorbell; when it goes off, the transmitter sends out a radio signal that activates the chime unit. The chime unit plugs in to a standard outlet and features three programmable tunes and a volume control. And installation is easy-no extra wiring is required. Note that you will need to purchase three AAA batteries for the transmitter.--Josh Dettweiler
