(More customer reviews)I've given an extensive review of the the Mace Home Security unit and included a review of this siren. When set up it has an effective range of about 200-250 feet. This is helpful if you live in a rural area, depending on how far away your neighbors are and the amount of neighborhood noise. The siren is a remote unit although it does require 110v for the supplied 9 volt power supply. It has battery backup in case of power failure. I have the siren located about 20 feet from the control unit and it works fine.
The only problem I had was with programing it to the main unit. There have been three versions of software for this unit developed over the years and each requires a specific programing procedure. Identifying the serial number on back of the main control was supposed to identify which version I had but this proved to be incorrect but fortunately for Mace's fantastic tech support I was able to resolve this problem fairly easily. My advice is that if the one of the two programing techniques don't work then try following the other procedure. Again, it's not super loud but does help in providing a deterrent.

(More customer reviews)Works great, does exactly what I need. A handy chart on the side shows how wide of an area is measured at a given distance. Tested it from about -15C to 500C and looks accurate so far. The Celsius/Fahrenheit switch is inconveniently located inside the battery compartment, but whatever - I guess I don't switch often enough for that to be a huge issue. LCD is backlit and easy to read. Overall a good product and does what it says it does.

(More customer reviews)An "ok" greenlee tester.Kinda bulky compared to previous testers i've came across.Its loud enough to hear it from a couple of feet. It illuminates a really bright red color whenever voltage is present. I gave it 3 stars bc its an average tester to me.I dropped mine and fell on the end camp and chipped it and now it won't stay closed. I wish they had a little switch or a button to turn it on or off instead of the twist cap.
