Smoke detectors have an expiration date-usually within 10 years of their manufacture. I replaced the detectors in my home because their expiration was coming up. While the USI model SS-795 smoke detectors come with all the hardware for an initial (new) installation, they fit right into the same mounts that my earlier USI detectors used, including the AC wiring connectors (a very small adjustment was needed to the old mounts-very easy, very obvious).
The SS-795 also includes an additional feature: a false alarm can be silenced temporarily while the home owner investigates how it was triggered. Having accidentally triggered false alarms by vacuuming cob webs off the ceiling near a detector, I felt the silence feature was an extremely desirable feature.
Overall this is a reliable, easy to install, very affordable smoke detector.
