(More customer reviews)This $26 dollar item may be the single greatest value I've ever received in an electronic instrument.While it neither specifies which gas it alerts to nor quantifies amounts like the more expensive models,it does what its supposed to do, pinpoints leaks of exlosive type gases instantly and exactly,simply(my 7 year old grandson detected the first leak we found within minutes of installing the battery),reliably and effectively.
With our aging gas infrastructure my thought was that every homeowner,property management company,rental complex and neighborhood watch type program(etc.,etc.,would be well advised to acquire and use them on a periodic basis.An ounce of this type of prevention is worth incalculable amounts of cure.If one evening stroller,jogger,dog walker or anyone else on foot in San Bruno had been using one before the neighborhood exploded a great deal of tragedy might have been avoided.
I live in a mobile home community whose pipes were laid in the 1940s.After finding and fixing 2 leaks at my home,I found 3 more;1 at my neighbors on one side and 2 at my neighbors on the other,all within two hours of receiving it,and there are 330+ spaces in this park.
Excellent device,plenty of the best kind of bang for the buck,no bang at all.
