Like the subject line says:
1) 10 year battery #1 was manufactured in 2007 and died in June 2009
2) 10 year battery #2 was manufactured in Feb 2009 and died in Jan 2010
The first time I'd take as an exception. The second time means I'll never buy this again.

Working smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a home fire by 50%, and that's important because a home fire starts every 83 seconds! The faster you know about a fire, the faster you can start moving your family outside. The First Alert smoke alarm with tamper-resistant lithium power cell gives you the peace of mind of a 10-year battery life warranty. A loud 85-decibel alarm alerts you to smoke and fire danger. It features a low battery alert and blinking power indicator that confirms it is receiving power. The silence/test button allows you to both silence a non-threatening alarm and to test the unit's functionality. The power cell is secured and cannot be removed so as to insure tamper resistance, making it ideal for high ceilings, apartments, and dorm rooms. It includes one 9-volt lithium power cell with 10-year battery life warranty.--Bree Norlander
